Gulab Janum is milk solid based sweet ,berry sized balls are dipped in sugar syrup.A classic indian dessert.

- 2 cup milk powder
- 1/2 cup maida/All-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tbsp Milk skin /cream (તર)
- 1 1/2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 5 tbsp yogurt
- For sugar syrup
- 3 cup sugar
- 2 cup water
- 2 tbsp milk
- Pinch saffron
Steps to make to make Gulab Jamun
- In lareg bowl take milk powder,maida,baking powder,cream,mix well, homemade gulab jamun mix is ready.
now add 2 tbsp ghee and mix well making the flour moist.
further, add yogurt as required start to combine.
combine well forming a soft dough. do not knead the dough.let it rest for 10mins covered.start to prepare small ball sized jamuns.
make sure there are no cracks in the jamun. if there are cracks then jamuns will break while frying


- Meanwhile, prepare the sugar syrup by taking sugar &water,
mix well and boil for 5 minutes or until the sugar syrup turns sticky.add milk to get crystal clear sugar syrup.collect grey foams by spoon in a small bowl.do not attain any string consistency. Then add Cardamon & saffron.Sugar syrup is ready to use.


- Deep fry in medium hot oil or ghee. frying in ghee gives good flavour to jamuns. I used oil, stir jamun continuously.



- Fry on low flame until the jamuns turn golden brown. Put on paper towel to absorb the oil and transfer the jamun into a hot sugar syrup.
cover and rest for 2 hours or until jamuns absorb the sugar syrup and doubles in size.Ready to serve


- Note that either janum should be hot or sugar syrup. Not both of them. (Sugar syrup shouldnt be boiling hot)
